About a week ago, I upgraded to the Klipsch Sub-12 from a lower powered 10" sub to complete the 7.1 home theater set up in my 12ft by 19ft basement room. I watch a lot of action movies and concerts on Blu-Ray/DVD. I highly recommend this subwoofer if you like to feel the deep bass and to shake the house. I located the sub at the front left corner of the room (about 10" away from the walls). This Klipsch seems to play noticeably deeper and louder (with power to spare) than the sub that I replaced. The sound from the subwoofer is not directional. Its sound just fills the room.One small negative (easily fixed) is the small blue LED light on the lower front face of the subwoofer cabinet. The light shows that the sub is ON and operating. In my dark room, the LED is too bright. My solution was to simply put a small piece of black electrical tape over the light to hide it. The tape blends in with the cabinet and is not noticeable.Again, I highly recommend this subwoofer for a surround sound home theater room with a size comparable to my room. Set up was simple and product quality seems to be excellent.

Due to my job situation, I did not feel like putting a whole lot of money into a pricey home theater receiver and speakers right now but I did want a system I could build into at some point in the near future. What I did know was that I could not stand the poor sound coming out of my Samsung flat panel TV. As a quick cheap short term fix, I first added a Visio sound bar. While the sound bar was a vast improvement over the tv's speakers, it was lacking the "feel it" bass of my downstairs home theater system. Fortunately, the sound bar had a single line out port specifically for a subwoofer. I decided to make a subwoofer the first key part of my future home theater system and I decided to go with a 12 inch subwoofer due to the size of my living room and the open layout.In regards to the room size, I have a very open floor plan, with nine foot high ceilings in my living room and connected kitchen. The living room opens to an entry way with a two story high ceiling leading to an upper loft and second floor. The living room itself is probably 16 by 16 foot. For these reasons, I felt that I did not want to go with less than a 12 inch sub.I narrowed my choices down to the Polk PSW505 12" and the Klipsch Synergy Sub12. I debated for several weeks weighing things such as Polk's lower cost, fine reputation among its customers and the reported better speaker cabinet built out of real wood. On the flip side, I really liked Klipsch's reputation for music quality, the non directional bass feel and the greater power and lower bass range of the Klipsch. I presume I would have been happy with either choice but when the Klipsch went on sale for within $20 of the Polk, I decided to go with the Klipsch as I had placed a priority on non directional bass.While I normally purchase from Amazon, another reputable vendor offered a lower sales price and faster free shipping so I purchased elsewhere. I immediately checked for cracked cabinet feet that some customers have reported but I had no such issues. As others have indicated, this sub is large and really difficult to hide and still keep it close to the tv. It looks like a small shipping trunk in size but after powering this thing up, I had no regrets regarding the larger size.My first test of the sub was playing a blue ray version of the train movie Unstoppable. I could very easily feel the train not only in my living room but also upstairs as well. I then turned on a March Madness basketball game. I found myself smiling when I could feel the ball hitting the back rim or bouncing across the court floor while I stood in my kitchen. Finally, I turned on Pandora to listen to music. All I can say is that I am very impressed with the results. I know that some guys have said their wives do not like their subwoofers. I can tell you that is not the case with my wife. She is equally appreciative of the results from the sub as I am.At some point in the future, I will replace the sound bar with a receiver and the Klipsch Quintet SL Flat Panel Speaker System as I want great sound without a lot of speaker bulk, beyond the large sub that is. However, for now, I am very pleased with the results I am obtaining from this sub, a PS3 blue ray player and my sound bar.

I recently completed my home theater and I am glad to report that I chose the Klipsch Sub-12HG Synergy as my subwoofer. OMG, first of all delivery was earlier than the tracking software reported. This speaker produces some of the fullest, seemless, and clearest bass I've ever heard. My room is 16'X 31' so it's not a very small space. However, during action movies or explosive bass sequences the entire room vibrates and the volume is nowhere near a third of the way turned up. What a value... I won't need another subwoofer in this lifetime....What a monster!!

I bought this sub a couple of months ago through amazon in addition to the Quintet speaker system. Couldn't be happier with the power coming from this subwoofer. With the sub set to -15db on my receiver, the floor and windows still tremble whenever watching a movie or listening to music. I have yet to really turn the subwoofer to full capacity for fear my neighbors would get upset. Bottomline, this subwoofer is powerful and has the capacity to deliver enormous levels of base. Incredibly glad I decided to go with the 12" Synergy over the SW-350, this is the best subwoofer out there on the market for the price. Whether the purpose is for subtle support for your listening pleasure or a complete dimension of full bass experience, this subwoofer delivers through the entire range on the spectrum.

I owned the original Klipsch Sub-12 (same model as Sub-12HG except minor cosmetics) and gave it to a friend a couple years ago. I've regretted doing that ever since and have been on the look-out for a powered sub with comparable quality at a competitive price. Needless to say, I haven't had much luck... until the Sub-12HG went on sale for $250!!! You can't find ANYTHING comparable for that price, or even around $300. I'm totally stoked and am going to love every minute I have this turned on. Perfect for music, movies, etc. You can control the amount of power the amp delivers to the sub (gain) and the frequency that is allowed to pass through the built in cross-over (adjustable from 40 to 120Hz). The auto-power switch is also a nice feature since you don't have to constantly hassle with turning off the sub when you are done. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the quality of another sub in this price range... this is really a $500 sub and that's not MSRP crap! To top it all off, Klipsch offers a 5-year warranty on the sub, 2-year warranty on the BASH amplifier..

When I bough this subwoofer I was a bit skeptical. I have been researching for quite a while and narrowed my choices between this Klipsch Sub-12 and a Polk Audio PSW-505. I have been reading all the reviews that praised the sound of the Klipsch for under "$500" and the sort, but said that there are better sounding subwoofers out there in much higher price ranges. While the Polk PSW-505 seems like a very comparable subwoofer based on specs and price alone, I decided to go with the Klipsch because of the down-firing design. After opening, installing and properly setting up this sub, I was completely blown away that such sound can come from a home theater subwoofer. The power is more than anyone would ever need to listen to movies or even music, and the sound itself can hit so low that your whole house will be shaking. I dare say that for almost any budget, this subwoofer will sound amazing if paired up with the right receiver and speakers. Movies and music sound incredible, but even watching tv is a completely different experience with this subwoofer. The size is a bit on the large side, so if you want a small, unintrusive speaker that delivers just enough power, there are much smaller subwoofers out there. But If you have the space, and crave serious power, you surely will not be disappointed.
